Are You Embarrassed By Glorifying God with your Life & Skills? Here’s What To Do
Glorifying God…Hmmm, how do we give glory to another when we are desperately looking for affirmation ourselves?
So what is Glorifying God? To “glorify” God means to give glory to Him. The word glory as related to God in the Old Testament bears with it the idea of greatness of splendor. In simple terms glorifying God simply means to give him Praise and Worship…But is that all?
By now your mind may be swirling with a lot of questions: How do l know the will of God? What difference will it make if l discover the will of God, since l can’t seem to run my life now? Do I need to do anything glorifying God? Whats Glorifying God anyway? Lots of questions…not enough answers today! Yet we are the most informed generation with the internet at our fingertips….
You must be asking yourself, how can l ever please God with my rotten background? Do my actions today lead to glorifying God or down the dark path?
Let’s examine some additional issues about knowing God’s will, then we’ll see how it impacts on all of us, especially if you are hurting.
“Heaven is where we say to God, Thy will be done. Hell is where God says to us, Thy will be done.”
WHAT? You must be baffled by the above statement..But Read It again!
As I’ve said before, the essential prerequisite to knowing the will of God is our disposition towards it. ln dealing with the question of what is true and what isn’t, who is right and who isn’t, Jesus responds by saying, if any man is willing to do His will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it is of God, or whether l speak of myself (John 7:17).
This to me means living in a state of seeking God’s face and by the precepts. These commandments are all about LOVE…very simple. Yet seems the hardest on this planet! In glorifying God we have to Love ourselves, Love one another, and Above all Love Jehovah GOD with all that we are, no half measures. He made it easy too; by loving our neighbours unconditionally i.e. no expecting rewards. We are LOVING GOD and glorifying his Holy Name!
If we are predisposed to question or reject the will of God, we will never know what it is. Disobedience affects discernment. Getting my own way may exclude God’s way, esp. of its a flesh desire. God, speaking through the prophet Isaiah, says:
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts!. (Is 55:8,9)
Woo so how can we even begin glorifying a power that mighty? By following His word…and meditating on it daily…He says! So that we may keep close to his ways!
lf l wanted to determine the spiritual vitality of an individual using only one criteria, l would evaluate whether the person desires to live according to the will of God, or if he desires to do his own thing. The prayer of a vital, growing Christian is, (Ps. 25:4). Jesus taught us to pray, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, so we should be seeking to establish God’s kingdom, not ours. So how do we know his will… By Asking His guidance, we all have the spirit of God in us, we just have to tap into that Inner man, the unbreakable powerful one, the spirit of God! Duh read scripture above! And as John Piper stated simply live your life glorifying God period!
BEYOND BEING WILLING – THAT’S GLORIFYING GOD!
Once our will is bent in the right direction, Jesus raises the additional question of motive: He who speak for himself, seeks his own glory, but he who is seeking the Glory of the one who sent him, he is true and there is no unverified the one who sent him.
ALLOW HIM TO TAKE CONTROL – THAT’S GLORIFYING GOD!
The Holy Spirit that’s whom. Allow the Holy spirit to take control of your life, its very paths and direction. Every blessed day. like brushing your teeth, you do that daily right? So seek the Holy spirit let Him be your garment. He acts in the same way as the above scriptural examples. Do you not know your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit Who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body (1 Corinthians 6:19,20)
People who know they are God-sent and are committed to live their lives glorifying God.
Self-sent people seek their own glory. l know this is a tremendous struggle for those of you who are hurting. You are saying to me, God gave me lousy parents. l have no money for a decent education. l’ve been mistreated by others my whole life. And God wants me to sit around and stroke His ego! How do we give glory to another when we are desperately looking for affirmation ourselves? Why should we be excited about glorifying God if we believe that it is God who dealt us a bad hand?
Well Dig Deep and look to your thoughts before today..something somewhere has brought that state you are in into your life and You need to seek God and Start living your life Glorifying him. Haven’t you heard of people who end up in jail and turn their lives around they actually become like Paul. Messengers of God? You have been sent to do something great on this planet…it may not be Great in your fleshly eyes…We shall look deeper in this nest time.
And may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the sweet fellowship of the Holy spirit be with us now and always! Doesn’t he deserve all the Glory? Sing with me…..
